Senator Tester graduated from the College of Great Falls in 1978 with a BS in Music. Prior to becoming an elected official, he was a farmer, ran a custom butcher shop and was a music teacher. Tester was elected to the Montana State Senate in 1998 and was elected President of the Montana State Senate from 2005-2007. In 2006, Senator Tester was elected to th U.S. Senate where he is a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee.
