Congressman Don Young is serving his 19th term in Congress. He is the 6th-most senior Member of Congress. First elected in a special election in 1973, Congressman Young has ascended to chair two committees: the House Resources Committees–where he is now the senior Republican–and the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree at Chico State and served in the Army’s 41st Tank Battalion from 1955 to 1957. Congressman Young was elected Mayor of Fort Yukon in 1964. In 1966 he was elected to the State House until 1970, and then served in the State from 1970 until 1973. His most historic battle was also his earliest–leading the charge for passage of the Trans-Atlantic Pipeline.
