:

 Rep. Tom Latham was born on July 14, 1948 in Hampton, Iowa. He is married and has three children. He attended Wartburg College in 1967 and attended Iowa State University.  Latham was the Franklin County Republican Party chairman from 1984-91, and has been in the U.S. House since 1995.  He sits on the powerful House Appropriations Committee, where he chairs a subcommittee.

In 2012, Tom Latham defeated Rep. Leonard Boswell; census redistricting placed them both in the same race.
