Senator Sessions graduated from Huntingdon College with a BA in 1969.  He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama in 1973.  Sessions served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1973-1986, attaining the rank of Captain.  After two years as the Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Alabama, Sessions was nominated by President Reagan, and confirmed by the Senate, to serve as the U.S. Attorney for Alabama's Southern District.  He was in this position for 12 years when he was elected Alabama's Attorney General in 1995.  In 1997, Senator Sessions was elected to the U.S. Senate where he is the Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Judiciary.
